Generation Kill
Seeing as a lot of EPeople recently engaged in a heated debate over the state of certain countries' occupation of other countries in a certain desert area, I thought it kind of ironically funny that I just discovered this show.
It's a seven part HBO mini-series focusing on a platoon of soldiers waiting in Kuwait, just outside of the border to Iraq. It's all based on the true story of a Rolling Stone writer's visit to this platoon. He wrote a book detailing all the things he witnessed, from the hostility of soldiers towards the press, to how under-supplied the soldiers were, to just the personal interactions of the soldiers (like when everyone gets into an argument with a white-supremacist private after he makes a bunch of hateful comments about a black soldier). Needless to say, it's a really interesting show. I'm only 1 1/2 episodes in, but I'm really interested in seeing where it goes.
Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this show. It's short, meaning you don't have to invest too much time into it, and it's really well done.
