i got to skimming through a few of the manga chapters
it seems like the anime was made in the early stages of the manga, that's why it didn't come out as good
what i didn't like about it was the ending

well if you ask me anime to manga transitions always make the anime look worse artwise because basically drawing anime is probably very hard, and to keep the moving of the pictures at a smooth rate; that's probably why they have to simplify things

anyway, i read manga when i need to (like if some anime doesn't explain confusing parts) i actually really like the art they do most of the time so i find myself reading a lot more manga these days

but manga's i don't bother to read are the extremely series like inuyasha or naruto; if watching every episode is hard enough, reading through all of that would be 10 times as hard.

meh, i look like a fervent anime and manga reader but im not so i wouldn't give you the professional opinion (im more like an average joe XD)
