Weird computer noises
Hi guys, I woke up this morning and came down stairs to check my computer and all i could hear was the loud screeching noise, i thought a cd was stuck so i pressed the eject button realy hard and screeching noise stoped but then whilst the tray was out it came back on so this time i just tapped preety hard on the case and it stoped again.

Does anyone know what is causing this noise.

Its a dell e520

dead cd drive? you can never trust a dell.

i fried a motherboard, CPU and PSU just by adding a CD burner.

yeah, maybe a fan. open it up and check for anything stuck in any fans. dust, cables etc...

i opened up my dads computer a few moths back. there was enough cobwebs and dust to keep disneylands haunted house dept. happy for months...

check if anything is on it, under it or touching it, the vibrations from the CD/DVD Drives or HDDs and make some weird sounds.

that happened with a friend's dell. the fascia on the front rattled because of fan vibration. to stop it he simply used the computer as a foot stool. that stopped it rattling.
