Ram Question
ok so i have a P4 HT with 1.5 gig of ram... the ram is split into a 1 gig and a 512meg.. so is that bad? i know a pc likes that have them split equally like two of the same size.. when i installed them the bios said some warning about losing system performance from installing it like i did but i said its a gig and a half how could it be slow... but i don't know.. does some one here know more about that then i do? lol   ill prolly just get another 1 gig anyway and make it an even 2

RE: Ram Question
no its not bad it won't ruin performance

you have alot more ram than me and my pcs a fast bastard

1.66ghz processor and 384 ram a 256ram stick and a 128

just make sure that your program doesn't use a lot of proccesses or doesn't load alot of programs when you boot up because that eats your ram and slows your pc down

also don't use the vista aero theme if your on vista

it eats you ram like an ethiopian with a meal and requires a MINIMUM of 2gb ram

RE: Ram Question
It can reduce performance if the RAM sticks are at different speeds (will run at the same speed as the slowest).

Also, some CPUs (*cough* AMD) have funny issues with weird RAM combinations.

But one of the things about having different RAM is that you can't use dual channel DDR (does your motherboard support that anyway?).

RE: Ram Question
yea mines a P4 so no amd issues.. i was curious cause the bios said that when i installed... the comptuer doesn't work slow at all i mean its a 3.2ghz with a gig and and half of ram.. i do use the vista aero theme cause im a sucker for transparent stuff... there isn't any noticable slow down and i don't use it for games or install usless programs plus i strip all the process and services away that i can and still kepp it working right.. its just hooked to a moniter and a tv and a surround sound system for my anime and music.. dual screen all the way lol.. the one im on now is my server which i normally just control with vnc... i don't use my nice pc for downloading and such.. i use an old one a server and network the two.. well i got three all together and a laptop.. im a pc junkie..   i don't even have a game console other than a psp
