It's different in every game so I'm not sure of it's effects in contra but I think it gives you more lives.

Yeah it gives 99 lives in all Contra games (Haven't tried it on Contra 4 yet though) except Hard Corps well... if you enter it on the player 2 controller it gives 99 lives but I'm pretty sure does something else on player 1's controller.

Nope found them easy too, and I don't use savestates. Then again maybe its because I play them too much @_@

yah maybe its "being used to game" you can play it easily, lol

i don't recall having 99 lives in contra (well maybe in Super Contra or Super C) havent tried it in Contra 3, lol

Yeah Astute Falcon is a tricky without a charged saber. It helps to play with it a bit until you get it. Once you have charged saber (Got fast charge? Even better!) the fight is trivial.

But it seems to me that R-Type is overrated as a shump game.

ive seen screenies of R-type, and yeah it looks like gradius, lol, the noticiable feature in this is the levels are somewhat you can manage to passthrough in repeating playing the level
