Race Driver: GRID is failing on Menus
Tried running Stock 1.0 Race Driver: GRID and it loaded the splash, showed the video, then the menus appear all weird, missing pieces, repeated text.
Updated ATi Drivers, patched to 1.2 - no difference.
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz
Sapphire ATi Radeon X1600
SkyDX has managed to play it with that Graphics card so don't say I ain't got the power anyway.
HELP!

RE: Race Driver: GRID is failing on Menus
...I have that card...
your driver version is 1.2!?! Dear god, that's an old driver (I was pretty sure they are at 8.4 at least.)
I will see if it runs for me, but I will only be able to test the demo (if there is one (no cash, no game, you know the drill.))
I might run dxdiag, if it uses any direct 3d and if you have the catalyst control center check if agp is enabled (assuming your motherboard supports it.)
I know lack of necessary ram has caused problem with my graphics card too.
just some things to try.
also something note. Intel and Ati is a really bad idea.
ATI is manufactured by AMD, who makes processors that are quite different from how an Intel processor works.
I have experienced many problems mixing the two.
I would say just as a general rule of thumb AMD, ATI. Intel, Nvidia.

RE: Race Driver: GRID is failing on Menus
Sorry, I meant updated GRID to v1.2 - latest patch.
My drivers went from 8.6 to 8.7 with no difference.
Comp was prebuilt and I've never had game problems before - the GRID forums are hectic, 3-4 people have the same but have had no response.

RE: Race Driver: GRID is failing on Menus
Intel/ATi is not a huge issue really. True, ATi is AMD owned, and true that bost processors operate differently, but drivers are pretty well optimised to work with anything. True, AMD and ATi work well together, but its a bit far out to say they won't work well apart
All i can suggest is...have you tried running at a lower/higher resolution, just out of interest in case it works
Shame it won't go, its an absolutely awesome game

RE: Race Driver: GRID is failing on Menus
Just for the record, the game is failing on the 1280x1024 Resolution - no clue why, its the same res as my desktop - but it causes the game to malfunction on the menus - making it impossible to play.
This is a fantastic game, but CodeMasters have failed to address many peoples problems with it, they need to get their act together.

RE: Race Driver: GRID is failing on Menus
Wait. So one of the most common WS resolutions isn't supported (the PC im playing it on isn't WS unfortunately...or not as in may be)
That's pretty bad, which is a shame from a game that fun
