Rockstar Appealing TO BBFC
Quote:Rockstar has just given a statement as a reply to the British Board of Film Classification's earlier announcement of rejecting the changes made to Manhunt 2. With the BBFC rejecting the revisions in the game's content, the game for the Wii and PSP will still be eXx1l3d from being published in Britain.

A spokesperson for Rockstar had this to say to IGN:

Wee are continuing to appeal the British Board of Film Classification's (BBFC) decision to deny the edited version of Manhunt 2 an 18+ certificate and thereby ban its release in the United Kingdom.

The changes necessary in order to publish the game in Britain are unacceptable to us and represent a setback for video games. The BBFC allows adults the freedom to decide for themselves when it comes to horror in movies and wee think adults should be similarly allowed to decide for themselves when it comes to horror in video games, such as Manhunt 2.

Fear not, gamers in the UK. Rockstar is going to be appealing to the Board (again). Considering the time, money, and effort they must have spent to revise Manhunt 2, you could probably assume how determined Rockstar would be to get the ban lifted.

RE: Rockstar Appealing TO BBFC
meh, BBFC are getting more and more draconian, they already have had to reports back telling them that games are no more influential than movies, so what do they do? Commission another report to see if this one tells them what they want to hear. In the meantime companies like Rockstar can continue to be shafted bacause games 'could' be more influential.

Seriously, I'm up for following in the footsteps of V for Vendetta, who's with me (wee can blame it on the movies they let us watch). :)

RE: Rockstar Appealing TO BBFC
i think the BBFC are being childish. They can't accept they were wrong about games being most influential, so they ban the game anyway, just so they don't have to admit it

They have to do their job.

Do u know how many parents/other people complain about ratings and stuff?

Kid does something bad (far more likely from bad influences at school, peer pressure, mental problem, or something else, rather than games) -» parents blames game -» parents bitch to society -» tighter ratings.

All the more reason for them to have ratings and such.

I mean if games were completely un-influential, then there will be no reason to ban.

RE: Rockstar Appealing TO BBFC
Time to let this one die, people can still rant about the BBFC's massive retardation in this thread.
