Poll: What do you think of save states?
I consider it cheating
I believe it ruins the game
I find it actually makes the game more interesting
It's definitely a time saver
I think it'd be better if emulators didn't have ths save state option
Meh, it might be bad, but I still do it
Meh, I just ignore the feature

Save states, yay or nay?
What do you think?
(note, save states are typically available in emulators, which allow instant saving at any part of a game)

I know some people who consider save states cheating, but I personally say that it isn't, as what you do with save states would actually be possible without them, provided you spend the time to perfect your "method".

I personally love save states, but that could be partly due to the fact that I suck at games...

RE: Save states, yay or nay?
It's just convenient IMO. Like sometimes, u fudge up somewhere, and don't want to do everything over again.

Also cheating in some cases, like when i played Fire Emblem on the hardest mode, and beat the game without loosing a single charactor.

And in some cases, it's the only way to beat a game.
Double post
I actually way prefer emulators over the consoles. And even if i own the console, would still use an emulator. And i believe I'm not the only one.

Another great thing about emulators, along with save states, is the fact that u can speed up the emulation. This i find very helpful, and unlike save states, is not in any way related to cheating. Pure timesaver.

And u can also slow down the emulation, which is helpful as well sometimes.

Did anyone know that u can actually make a game look graphically better with emulation that how it would turn up in a console? Try using ePSXe, and turning the settings up. It uses the graphics card to do graphics enhancing stuff the PSX can't do. :)

RE: Save states, yay or nay?
I use it all the time in emulators, and just like Assassinator it is one of the reasons that in some cases I prefer emulation over that actual console.  I think it definitely is cheating, but only to the same extent that using a guide or maybe a glitch would be.  I use guides all the time and occasionally use glitches if they don't cheapen the experience too much.  If someone thinks they are cheats then they don't need to use them, and if anyone calls themselves a purist then they shoudn't even be using an emulator in the first place.

I'm not disappointed in you, I'm disappointed in myself, for believing in you.

RE: Save states, yay or nay?
Savestates are easily cheating they should be eXx1l3d. It proves you have no skill if you use savestates to beat a game. Even on fudges, since it just removes the surprise on the end and you'r just cheating to make the right choices all the time.

On the other hand though they're a VERY convenient way of saving the game quickly.

Can be done without save states - it just takes more time.
