Also the licensing fees.

But if selling 2000 copies is risky... doesn't that tell you something about the scope of the size of the current market?
Also, quote from that blog post...
Quote:Considering what is known about their sales numbers, it will be difficult (although not impossible) to accumulate that many sales.
Further hints to how their sales counts look like.

Generally, these types of things are fairly price inelastic (like drugs) so you can make a fair bit of profit per sale.
I agree with this statement since it applies to me. And I more than likely will buy this.
I would never pay ~$70USD (that's how much they charged for Shuffle and Da Capo) for a download edition, that also has goddamn DRM on it. I wouldn't even pay 1/7 that much. Both download editions and DRM don't click with me.
Too bad Ever17's out of print, and pretty much cannot be found except for this copy on Amazon they're trying to sell for $200. Because that's the only VN I would consider buying (check the ratings on the VNDB page linked earlier), that's available in English, that's not a download edition.

There isn't one. That's why it's risky. They're trying to create one.

Just an opinion from what I can tell.

Then again, you never pay for anything digital anyway, do you?
There certainly are people willing to pay for games out there, and from the people I know, it's not exactly a small number either.

As of right now, hardly ever. But that's because I'm a jobless uni student. If I had a steady job, I probably would.
BUT, I still wouldn't pay for download editions with DRM. If I were to pirate, then I'd get a "download edition", but without DRM, which is a superior product to what I would get if I went legal. Lol I'm not paying money to get an inferior product, that's against my principles. Also, I like having the boxes and physical disks and game manuals, so I can stick it on the shelves and stuff.

DRM is fine for most people as long as it isn't intrusive. Example: DVDs, online music purchases, Steam etc.
