eggroll Wrote:edit: ninja, what hacks did you attempt to brick those psp's? i don't do anything crazy myself, but i like reading about it, etc :]

The first time I bricked was mysterious. It was a 2.71. I can't remember how it went but it bricked for no reason while downgrading.
I just took it back and got a new one.

The second time I installed an external Wifi antenna jack, wouldn't do much on it's own but with an amp and a directional antenna... Either way it didn't turn on after that.
I just bought a new one, swapped the guts and returned it for a refund.

The third time I was mucking around with the firmware in various versions attempting to disable the MAC filter, and write a new driver supporting packet capture. My intention was gonna be Kismet/Ethereal clones for PSP. Something was fudged beyond my comprehension in the packing process, and I managed to brick the PSP during flashing.
I tried tracking down the guy who made WiFiSniffer for PSP so maybe wee could work together, but no contact info could be found.
I just bought a new one, swapped the guts and returned it for a new one and sold it.
So I gave up...oh yeah...*googles devolution mod-chip*

Hahaha Isn't putting a clear cover on something and then colouring everything inside it sort of counterproductive?!?

how much did you paid for the backplate?
my umd door is totally broken ...

I got it from these guys - had to import it from the UK, I think I paid NZD$75 all up.

sorry crazy english.. after a few weeks u will get tired of that spoon

lol, I've had the clear front for about 5 months now ~ I like it (except for when it's charging next to the bed -  the orange charge light illuminates the whole ROOM! (Thinking of doing a blue LED mod next)!

Anyhoo, I do still have an original black PSP which I never (or VERY rarely) use ^.^
To be honest I really love it.

However I do take apart my PSP Often, and sometimes the screw holes would get loose in the back assembly, also the annoying sound with the umd gears (had to dremel the plastic over the gears), and the UMD Door not closing fully.. eh

You could try a model shop?  They usually have trays of small parts and stuff.
