RE: PSP running slowly
How the stick was formatted can also have an effect on performance. You can try switching between FAT and FAT32 and various cluster/block sizes (where the size of the memstick permits).

RE: PSP running slowly
Right, I`ll screw around with it tomorrow, and see if I can fix it. If not, c'est la vie, it`s not like I can`t play games ever again.

RE: PSP running slowly
Yeah, try a reformat. My flash drive (which is pretty much a memory stick for the purposes of this discussion) was going really slow. Like, reading off it was taking forever because it was transferring at 312kb/s, and getting exponentially slower.
I did a full format into NTFS (not sure if you can use that for PSP memory sticks) and today, when I copied stuff off it, it copied at 4mb/s.
HUGE SUCCESS, speed was 13x faster!
It worked for me, it might wind up working for you.

RE: PSP running slowly
PSP can't read NTFS, only has a FAT driver.

RE: PSP running slowly
Hokay. So, no go on the waiting thing. It`s still as slow as it was before. And when I go to try and re-format it, I`m stuck with FAT32, which doesn`t alter the problem at all.
Ah, well. I s`pose I can distract myself by finishing Final Fantasy II
