I recently bought a Phat PSP 1004. It has official 5.51 f/w from the previous owner on it. The guy told me that he modded the battery to a pandora but I don't think he did. It is the bla4ae battery, very different from the typical psp battery people mod. From what I have read it can't be modded.
Pandora batteries seem pretty cheap to buy now. If I was to buy one could I downgrade to a lower version, lets say 1.50? and then upgrade to 5.00 m33?
I have successfully made a MMS using pspgraderv008/psp 5.00 firmware update.
I'd really appreciate some advice on what to do next if anything was possible.
Is it also true that this Phat 1004 can be downgraded even though it is at version 5.51?
Thanks

RE: Help needed on what to do next.. Phat PSP 1004.
you can try hard modding it, but once you have unless you mod it in a certain way it will be stuck in pandora mode, if you are ok buying one then you should, just make sure it's a trusted seller.
once you have the battery, you can go strait to 5.0m33, no need to downgrade (unless i stand corrected)

Well that is great news. I have seen some on amazon where the sellers have decent feedback.
The original owner said he did mod it but I don't think he did. I've opened the battery up and it doesn't look like the standard one. I've tried to attach an image I found off the net to which one it is. This image shows the underside I can't access easily.

No, this also makes me think that it isn't a pandora. I read it would show a light when inserted but it doesn't.
Thanks for responding guys. I really appreciate it.
Edit,
So the attachment works. This is the blindside which you can't see, and the only chip on the battery which joins to the connecter which goes into the psp battery connecter. Sorry for explaining it poorly.

someone already said this, but you don't have to downgrade to 1.50 to update to m33. just configure your memory stick for the latest dc, and it should have an option to install the latest and greatest m33 firmware.
