Endless Paradigm

i am one of those people who likes to pay for anti-virus programs, so please respect that :D.
with my new laptop, i got a free 30 day trial of McAfee's Security Center which has been working really good for me (well i think it has). now my 30 day trial is almost up and its time to suscribe. it will cost me $80 AUD (under a 20% off deal) for a 1 year subscription that's all fine and good, but I've recently looked at such websites like av-comparatives.org and they have tested Nod32 to perform much better than McAfee. so now I'm split between getting one of them. Nod32 will only cost me $64.50 AUD for a 1 year subscription, so i guess its better and cheaper. but with Nod32 Anti-Virus v3.0, is there a firewall or do i have to get one seperate. I've also seen "ESET Smart Security" on their website. is it better to get that than just the normal anti-virus?
and if i get Nod32, can people recommend some firewalls, if there isn't one with it. Because in the McAfee Security Center, it has everything from anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall etc.

also what is everyone's opinion on everything I've written?

NOD32 is the best, it even makes sure microsoft office and stuff don't have viruses.

I would say McAfee I've never even heard of nod32. I had McAfee and it's prettt good. It does everything. It will even stop viruses right before they stop running.

Also if you really want to get a good program I would look at Symantec and their Norton product line.

Before they 'STOP' running? isn't that bad because you will let them run?

NOD32 scans all my files WHILE I AM DOWNLOADING THEM automatically.

What I mean is I was stupid enough to click the icon and it prevented it from running it.

And I have Norton360 right now and it doesn't slow my machine down at all. Not even when I'm playing high end games like Command and Conquer 3

and also I wasn't trying to slam Nod32 Im just saying I've never heard of it and therefore can't review it.

Wait? You have 2 Anti-Viruses? THEY ALWAYS CONFLICT!!!

You say you use McAfee Then norton. . .

Ok, but next time make it more clear from what you are saying, and I know that you weren't trying to bash NOD32.


Oh and trust me, Norton slows a PC down. Maybe you just are one of those people with enough money to buy a top machine.

Diego seeing as you use nod32, could you tell me if it has a firewall or if i need to get another one seperately (and maybe recommend one for me if needed)?

Slushba132 i value your opinion, but i do agree with diego that Norton is really spoon, i have it on one of my older computers, and that has made it really slow

before i make my decision I'll wait for some more people to tell me what they think :D

I'm not actually that entirely sure. it has this thing called IMON, Its the Internet monitor.
It's actually scanning EP atm. But I mean you actually don't even need a firewall if you know what you are doing.

I never even touch NOD32 because its one of those install + update then leave it alone. It does everything on its own.

I think the IMON is a sort-of-firewall.

ahk, that must mean your using v2.7 or something because the new version 3.0 apparently doesn't use IMON, EMON etc anymore.

i know i don't really need a firewall because i do know what I'm doing, but i like it just sorta as a backup incase i visit a site that i thought was trustworthy, but it actually wasn't or something
