See that Linux Distro thread for more info. I was trying to install Linux, when I used the "Install Operating System" option for Partition Magic, and now can't get past original computer boot stage.
poo poo!!!!!!!
I did screw it up... no clue how though.
When I don't have a CD in the drive, it looks in the hard drive, and says "Missing Operating System"
Things I can still do:
Access Bios.
Boot from CD
Open/Close CD Drive
Probably boot from floppy.
How can I get my Windows XP back now... :(
Use The XP Operating System CD Thing To Install It Again Maybe You Just deleted The Partition By accident :D
I only get a screen "Compaq", then I get the message. So I don't know how I would format.
Can I just use an XP installation disc to boot from CD and re-install it?
michaelp Wrote:Can I just use an XP installation disc to boot from CD and re-install it?
that's the format that i was thinking of :he:
Oh, so I would put in install disc, boot computer and do a re-format install?

yeah ..
that's the likeliest thing that i would do...
so don't take my word for it :he:
Might as well try soon, I don't have any other ideas. :p
you are probably just missing the master boot record, boot from your XP cd and when it gives you the options goto the recovery mode, once it is loaded (a command prompt) type FIXBOOT, then FIXMBR. Restart and see if it loads, if it doesn't you deleted your windows partition.
