all firmwares are softwares
but not all softwares are firmwares

software is a program

firmwae is your operating system

but firmware is also a software which runs ur hardware

Firmware = software IN hardware, such as an EEPROM. Basically. But yes, firmware is basically the operating system - but the term 'firmware' suggests that you are not supposed to see it or edit it :P because its SOFTWARE That's WHACKED IN THERE NICE AND FIRM-LIKE...! Its a combination of software and hardware = firmware.
