Quote:Thanks to a tip from EXTER, wee've just gotten word of a new Datel product that you might want to place under close scrutiny. It's called the Datel Max Power PSP Battery, and they've got a TOOL version whose description seems a lot like the one wee'd attribute to Pandora's Battery.
Here's the description on Datel's website for the TOOL version of their Max Power Battery: "Special TOOL version of our PSP battery works in exactly the same way as a standard Sony PSP battery but has the ability to put your PSP into service mode for custom firmware use (italics theirs)." The ability to place your PSP into service mode is a feature also seen in the Prometheus Project's Pandora Battery.
It'd probably take some testing to make sure that Datel's Max Power is functionally identical to Pandora's Battery. If they are similar, then members of the homebrew community should take note that you can create your own Pandora's Battery for a relatively cheap price, using the tutorials you can find on QJ along with an inexpensive second battery for your PSP. For now, wee're putting this information up so that more knowledgeable members of the homebrew community can spread the word and help to sort this potential issue out.
imo i think that very diapointing coming from datel tut tut tut

OMG. that would be right always quick to cash in.
who cares anyway, they are making peoples a favor
but credit should be given to the ones that developed the software, without them, there wasn't service mode to anyone
do you know what should be done in cases like this? start a petition, nah, just kidding :P
so im guessing u don't need to have the program also in your memory stick?

no you still the files on a MS.. they don't give you that.. as far as credit, i doubt any serious company is going to credit hackers no matter if they developed it or not... though it would funny to see thanks to team c + d and such on the pakaging but they arent gonna print a ton of screen names on stuff.. companies don't even credit their own in house people that develop stuff unless it a form of media like games
well atleast their better than some peeps on ebay trying to rip people for selling pandora batteries for 400$
why do i have a feeling that m33 and company will pull off something like 3.52 m33-3?
For example, when the next firmware update comes. The original Pandora's battery will not unbrick it using the original files. In order to UNBRICK it, It will have to be compiled with the NEW encrypted files for the new firmware. Totally screwing all the people making money out of them.
Just a thought
i think sony might get involved with this, because it is no longer freeware...
sony is going to be very mad at this
