You think so?  She seems very human to me...

I guess it's her routine and manner that makes me think that. She does have the human elements you'd expect from an android but the way she plays it down amuses me.

I doubt it's that complicated.  He's been trying to ask her out for, like, the whole series...
Okay, he is thoughtful of her, but the whole dating thing is probably done for his own interests rather than for her sake.

Weren't sold on his thoughts?

"I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. Maybe I'm just being egotistical. But Isla... I want her to enjoy every moment as much as she can."

He does sound rather selfish :P

Well I'd consider them genuine, but either slightly unrelated to dating (i.e. wants her to enjoy life in a general sense, but in this case, wants to satisfy his interests), or worded in a fashion to make himself seem more laudable.

My reasoning is based off the typical anime male protagonist being completely clueless in regard to the girl's thoughts, and that Tsukasa seems to fit that mold.  In other words, he has no clue whether Isla would be interested in going out on a date, whether she'd do it out of interest (enjoyment?) or sympathy, or whether he could make her happy.  Of course, you'd try to make the girl happy if you take her out on a date, but the actual request itself was most likely for his own sake rather than hers.
Ooh, so the drama starts.
Personalities do seem a little different - mainly Tsukasa's.

I've believed in Tsukasa's intentions - he has shown merits that seperate him from the generic male protagonist crowd from early on and it's been a nice change.

Isla is finally breaking out of her shell which is really nice to see.

The episodes story itself was quite good and address a sticking point for Giftias that are "reset". I still have a problem with the lack of explaination as to why no "memory backup" can be made though.

Any expectations of further explainations to unanswered questions are firmly in the backseat now, though, as the story goes into full drama/romance mode. Hang on tight, here come the feels!

Plastic Memories Episode 10 Discussion

A decent episode. Animation seemed a bit rougher than usual to me but! maybe my memory is making me think it's been better than it actually has been.

The light humour was OK but I didn't get any proper laughs. Michiru has only gotten more grating to listen to.

Isla intends to protect Tsukasa from some of the pain he will feel when she's gone and Kazuki will either help with Isla's intentions by seperating them or is instead seperating them to help the relationship in some way. Who knows!?

It's fair to say I'm losing the will to care at this point and I think the fact that the post-credits twist in episode 8 was canon is testament to how it's becoming increasingly difficult to take this show seriously when it attempts to do drama. Ah well, 4 episodes to go!
THE FEELS

No seriously I was a blubbering wreck.

Sweet romance like this always plucks a string with me. And this was no exception. Plastic Memories has turned out be a really strong anime for me so far. The protagonist is not a gutless wimp for a change, and the characters all have their own distinct personalities that shine and are each given their moments to shine. The comedy is balancing perfectly with a developing plot, and I think that the less plot-oriented episodes have been driven out of character development, not for other causes such as fan service. I am really looking forward to the remaining 3 episodes!
