they are extremely limited releases though, i know of about 3 theaters here that opens those kind of movies

Mississauga. Empire Theatres in Square One is showing something like three movies right now, and both displays at the entrance are for Indian movies.
Hmm I don't really like intermissions but they could be useful in case people want to get up and stretch or buy stuff etc. doesn't matter to me in the end though
The only movie I have seen with an intermission was Braveheart (182 minute runtime).  
I think the theater would rather save 20-30minutes per movie of intermission and put it into another show time for the day.  Sure some people may buy another round of popcorn and drinks, but probably a low percentage.
old movies from the 40s-60s do have intermissions maybe in between scenes (or sometimes 2 intermission in the whole film), maybe when the film is very long like the ten commandments or Ben Hur (ive seen those when watching a dvd it includes an intermission lol)

well ive watched a 6 hr filipino film with 1 intermission, maybe only american films don't do that anymore? hehee
