I'm not really sure what to get I like the other build though. But if you think this is better~. With the exception of the video card though, think I'll get the one sky recommended.

Leaning between this one and your other build....tempting urgh. I'll flip a coin lol.

Thanks boogs <3
I personally wouldn't go for an AMD FX CPU - I'd go for an i3 (or Phenom II X4 if you can still get one) instead in that range.
I'd stick to the A8 though - if you need more power, you can always add a GPU later on (and I believe it can Xfire with the APU, though check this).

7750 should be a fair bit more power efficient than the 6850.  If I recall correctly, the 7750 doesn't even require any extra 6-pin power plugged in.
honestly.. i don't know if the 4100 is better than the 3850k or not

but some did say its better to get the 4100 over a phenom ii

idk what to believe really so i just went with the newest Hihi

i read that its alright for a budget build that's why i went with it :/
plus i took in to consideration the possibility of a future upgrade? (AM3+ socket)

anyway, heres a couple more suggestions for you

i3 2100 & a phenom II x4 965BE
changed the gpu to a 6850 :)

it can .. i think they call it hybrid crossfire .. though, i don't know if its compatible with the 7000 series

it does sound cool though Ahaa
Okay ran it through my head many a times.

If I got the APU build it would be harder to upgrade because of the fm1 motherboard?

The AMD phenom ii x4 build looks like the best one imo. Mainly because of the motherboard having am3+.

6850 seems to get great reviews but the 7750 is cheaper but would it be compatible with this build?

Not sure about the i3 but last I heard the more GHz the better.

Then again the 3870k might be all I need...

blah blah I know little to nothing about pc's blah blah

Hmm hmm. I'll definitely think it over some more and decide tomorrow.

Thanks guys. =D <3

That's only true for processors of the same architecture.  For processors of different architecture, it's not really comparable (eg. A core i7 @ 4GHz is much faster than a Phenom II @ 4GHz).  To actually compare them read some reviews I guess.

But yeah, better than the core i3 because i3 is dual core not quad.

actually your pretty much stuck with it
if you want to upgrade.. youll be buying a new board for sure (cause the best you can get for an FM1 socket is a 3870k :) )

lunarღ Wrote: [ -> ]The AMD phenom ii x4 build looks like the best one imo. Mainly because of the motherboard having am3+.

the phenom ii build has an AM3 board
its the fx4100 build that has the AM3+
soz you don't get confused ;)

yeah pretty much that, and it will be compatible to all builds
i think the 6850 will be better for games vs the 7750/7770

i know, its hard to decide. lolz (srry if im making this harder for you) :/

found some benchmarks to screw with your brain a bit more though

BD is faster than the APU.  Phenom II X4 is a bit better at multithreading I believe.

Also I'd consider the Phenom II X4 960T (based on slightly newer Thuban core instead of older Denneb) if you can get one.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about upgrading.  In most cases, you'll be switching the motherboard when you get a new CPU.
In your case, you're pretty much at a dead end either way:
- Intel don't give a poo poo about maintaining socket compatibility, now that they have the upper end of the market.  They're using a new socket for Haswell (2013 chip)
- For the APUs, they're FM1, being replaced with FM2 (If I recall correctly)
- I recall that Piledriver was supposed to be FM2, but they've decided to stick with AM3+?  Either case, you can be fairly sure that Steamroller (2013 chip) is probably FM2 or something else.  Piledriver is probably only ~20% faster than Bulldozer.  Would you really buy a new CPU for just +20%?

I'm pretty sure you can plug a Phenom II into an AM3+ board though.

In general, CPU speed doesn't matter that much.  To simplify:
- A8 3870K: quad core, cheapest option if you skip the GPU, fast enough for your needs
- Phenom II X4: faster, more expensive cause you need a GPU
- FX 4170: derp
- Core i3: only dual core here, but fastest single thread performance; the above quad cores give more raw power, so I'd probably favour the above for that reason.  But if you're going to add a GPU, this generates the least heat and uses the least power (A8 is probably more efficient if you don't add a GPU to it)

I'd go with the A8.  It's no big deal to slightly reduce your graphics settings anyway, especially if you're used to the bad graphics that consoles put out.

A8 it is.

Graphics don't matter to me anyways, I've seen this thing play ME3 and Battlefield on low settings and I was already impressed. Imagine adding a GPU to it? woo~~~ Woo

Thanks guys I love you so~
2thumbs

goodluck!
If you or anyone is in need of a motherboard I have a new Gigabyte H77M-D3H for sale that I have coming in the mail because stupid newegg refused to return it so I had to send it back to gigabyte, but the whole process took too long so I just bought one locally :/
