As my PSP has been not particularly usable for the past year or so, am looking at a replacement device.
I don't really like phones (don't like being interrupted by others) and thus, have never owned one, but it seems that all electronic devices are becoming phones these days, so I'm considering whether I should just jump abord the ship.
One of the main selling factors of the PSP for me was the large 4.3in 16:9 screen, and if I were to get a phone, I need something like that.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many with such large screens. I don't really mind a 15:9 (eg 800x480) aspect since it's very similar to 16:9 anyway, so from my various searches, these are the only Android, non-CDMA, phones I've found which match this requirement (4.2in-5in screen, 16:9 aspect or similar):
Dell Streak
HTC Desire HD / Inspire HD
HTC Sensation
LG Optimus Big (South Korea only?)
Samsung Galaxy S II
Samsung Infuse
Sony Ericson Xperia Arc
All these seem to be rather high end with lots of stuff I'll probably never need unfortunately, meaning high cost, at least from the quick search I've done.
I really don't care about a lot of the features on these, like TV out, front facing camera etc, but I guess I'm going to have to pay for them (if I decide to get a phone) >_>
Samsung Infuse seems to cost more than the Galaxy S II? yet having less features.
Streak and Xperia seem overpriced for what they give. EDIT: Streak prices seems to be okay from eBay - cheaper than 2nd hand Desire, so I guess that's an option, though a little worried that 5in is a bit too big. Which leaves the two HTCs and Galaxy S II. Latter seems to be too costly for my tastes (>$650), so at the moment, throwing up whether to get an older Desire (possibly off eBay), or the newer Sensation.
Anyone more knowledgeable have any thoughts/suggestions?
