why don't you wait and get PSVita 3G?
I'm sure it equal a phone in battery life, the screen will kick a phone's donkey and ofc, it's a PlayStation.

Well if you don't put a SIM on it, I'd assume it works fine without a phone function.
But a phone may be useful. Probably be moving out soon, so having a phone is probably cheaper than a traditional phone + paying mandatory $20-30/mo line rental, so it does have its uses.
Am currently deciding whether it's worth it though.
Looks like the Archos 43 can be got for around US$220-250 (before shipping), so a bargain compared to a $400+ HTC Desire HD.
PSV is around the same price as the Archos, but probably locked down as hell, so can't run arbitrary applications, which is a big minus.
