Grey Ghost Wrote: [ -> ]The Legacy of Kain series. All of them are on pc im sure and will all run fine due to them being old games.
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2
Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
in that order story-wise
I doubt the PS2/Xbox generation ones would run on my PC perfectly, but I'll give them a shot.
Would you reccomend the PC or PSX versions of the first two?
My computer is far worse than yours spec wise and it runs Defiance, which is the most recent one, fine.
Soul Reaver has the kick as Gothic story but Blood Omen is where it all begins. So I recommend both.
Is the PC you tried it on Desktop or laptop? If it's a desktop it likely has a dedicated graphics card, so even with much worse specs, it chocolates on mine for gaming.
And I meant would you recommend the PC or PSX version lol. I was intending on playing both. :p
All 5 games are on PC and all 5 on playstation. Ive played them all on playstaion and i have them all on PC for old times sake. In your case PC versions would be better.
Looking at the specs you posted your computing rapes my lappy. I have 512mb ram and 1.5GHz CPU and dedicated 128mb graphics i think...
The first 4 you should have 0 troubles getting to run on windows XP the only one you may have trouble with is Defiance.

According to Wikipedia, 1312 pages. Holy spoon! Longest book I've read is Stephen King's IT, which is like 1100 pages.
Stephen Kings IT is win. Haven't read it but researched it after i was studying Donnie Darko as it appears in that. Sounds freaking awesome like all his books.
Oh it is. Definitely my favourite book everrrr, it's soo good.
I should read it.
Also the book The God delusion by Richard Dawkins is awesome. it has nothing story wise but is one hell of an interesting read and will give you much to think about. Im currently reading it myself.

The best game plot I can think of right now is Persona 3. (Portable and otherwise)
It's fairly long, and has some curveballs in it. You can have romance if you play as female protagonist, I suppose.
"The Gone Away World" is a book you might want to read, too. It's a bit waffly, but I reckon it's worth it for the one moment of revelation which made me put the book down, jaw agape. It's the only book that's done that before. Some romance, but not a central thing.
If you're into SF novels, Peter F. Hamilton's "Night's Dawn" trilogy might be a good idea - space travel that seems achievable, with action, space battles and lasers and spoon. Beware, each one of the trilogy has at least 800 pages, I think. Perhaps closer to the 1K mark. Also, features romance.
I'll keep thinking about it, and get back to you on this one.

I've been meaning to play through those. I've got the first three, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Just read the synposis on Wikipedia, sounds pretty awesome.

Ha, that's actually something I've been hugely into recently, after playing the Mass Effect games again. I'll definitely check those out.

nurehtix Wrote: [ -> ]Books: The Harry Potter series:
Yeah I know, childish right? Well, if you've seen the movies, then yeah. As far as I'm concerned, the movies are poo poo. But the books are so great. The amount of emotion, and overall epicness in the books is incredible. Definitely, my favourite book series ever. If you haven't seen the movies, please do not watch them before reading the books, and if you have, completely forget them before reading these.
If you liked stuff like Harry Potter, I'd suggest you try Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, the first book of which is Wizard's First Rule.
When I first read Harry Potter, I pretty much had the same impression as you, that is, it's extremely awesome. Sometime after I read the 5th Harry Potter, I read Wizard's First Rule, and ever since then that has by far been my favorite novel series, up to now. Compared to Harry Potter, The Sword of Truth series is much darker, deeper, more cruel, more grand, and pretty much makes Harry Potter look like Disney in comparison. After that, I never liked Harry Potter too much (that is, the 6th and 7th book). Also, similar to how you said not to watch the Harry Potter movies, don't watch the "Legend of the Seeker" TV series, I heard that fucks everything up really hard.
Spoiler for lots of words:
And another thing that makes me like this series a lot (besides for it's very good story and very well created world and lore) is because it doesn't really abuse stupid plot devices or pure luck. Too often in other stories do the protagonist/s win because the other side completely underestimates the underdog and makes dumb moves, or because of some random ally comes out of nowhere during the most convenient time just to save the scene, or even more unlikely poo poo like the antagonist's weapon suddenly failing at the crucial moment. Richard doesn't beat impossible situations because suddenly a favorable 0.001% chance event happens. He doesn't get his donkey into impossible situations to begin with (unless completely unavoidable), because only idiots would initiate something they do not have a decent chance of winning. He wins because he is a superior man, who can find and determine the best path when it counts, can pull through when needed, and makes very few avoidable mistakes. When he does make mistakes or gets screwed over, he learns from then to become even stronger. And all that makes everything much much more satisfying, than for example, Toaru Majutsu no Index... Where the main character (Touma) is an idiot who's like "justice justice" everywhere, is way way overly virtuous, always gets himself into bad shit, walks into every trap out there, and pretty much always wins because the enemies are like "hurr hurr hurr wee're invincible" and does dumb shit (perfect example is Accelerator vs Touma, how the fuck is it even possible for Accelerator to loose?). Not to mention for some reason he seems to be able to tank like 50x more damage than a typical human body can handle....
Sounds really awesome. I'll definitely check the series out.
Ha, I've got a lot to read/play now. :p thanks guys!
