• The PS3 is from what i understand to be "partially hacked ish" is it worth updating to the software that has this PS jail break exploit?
  

Jailbreaking your ps3 seems like a fantastic idea, at first.  The scene is in it's very early stages and not much has been accomplished.  You can play game backups you download from the internet, but few work perfectly and don't allow for updates ... and huge download size.  I recently decided to update, after pondering whether or not to since the jailbreak was first announced.  I will just buy another ps3 in a year or so when the scene has developed more.

• Is it worth staying on the current firmware for other OS?
  

Not really. OtherOS ran kind of slow.
