The PS3 can be jailbroken on firmware 3.15-2.41 and maybe a few lower revisions also.
BUT you cannot get onto PSN with a jailbroken PS3 so no online mutiplayer.
Unless you use Kai Xlinlk or XBSlink to play lan games, which is pretty cool seeing there's many now using those 2 ways.

I assume "PS3 USB Custom Firmware Loader v0.3" loads firmwares, is it possible to just load the latest firmware or not?

oh well. I heard somewhere that a Devhook for PS3 was being developed, thought that was it but obviously that was an overstatement. :P

usb firm loader seems like a tool that will boot the firmware from Usb stick and allow for customized files to be used...can't find anything about running a newer firmware than what is installed on the system though :-/

Congrats dude on finding a PS3, especially on a deal. Mines just died though, would have asked for your psn...:(
