useage patterns and quality of workmanship on the particular mouse your using.
ill explain - i used logitech mice since the dawn of time (or about 10+ years ago not really sure) and only ever had one problem - it was a trackball and sometimes it would randomly click for no reason. i hit it off things and made no difference. i ended up striping an old old mouse for the button and soldered in the new one and the problem was solved. since then the trackball went balls up (won't connect at all) so im now on a microsoft basic mouse however it is fine. the trackball was my perfect companion for the fps games i played a while back, but as i don't play now i cannot tell if the microsoft one is better or worse than logitech however im sure it just depends on the lifespan of the button itself inside the mouse. if your a dab hand at soldering and have an old mouse you could give it a go, alternativly you can 'borrow' one of the other less used buttons and swap em inside the mouse - however warranties are there to prevent this spoon from happening so if its warrantied then go for it.
