If you get a HDD that has a faster RPM, like 5400 or 7200 and your system can support it. Then yes. will you notice the difference? No, and it might make your laptop run a bit hotter.

Run faster, probably yes. Newer and larger HDDs tend to be faster. Though you probably can't notice the difference for normal windows use.
Less hot, don't know, depends on the drive, but probably hotter. But for laptops, it's probably your CPU/GPU and crappy ventilation making it hot anyway, a HDD by itself doesn't get all that hot.
And according to some web calculator, 70F = 21C, which is pretty damn cold actually, I'd be way happy if all my stuff stayed at 21C.

might knock it back and spin up
my laptop did that once while it was in windows lol i just gave it a smack and it worked again
Lol. Don't hit it too hard.
HDDs are quite fragile, a small drop, and you get a very high likelihood of breaking.

70 celcius? Probably just your CPU or GPU heating it up then.
As for the HDD running faster question earlier, as xero1 said, you probably won't notice any difference, even though it's faster.

There's not really a best, as, if there was, everyone would get it and there wouldn't be any competing brands in existence.
