daymn i need a job right now.... so many things i need to buy (like the studio gear I've mentioned...) doesn't seem to be anyhting much going atm.... though i have yet to try many places..... anyone else got the same problem?
Not to sound uncaring/heartless/like a pocky, but I looked at the world during the recession, and was like "what recession"? People have trouble finding jobs- I have just dropped one to go do another.
There's no shame in doing hard, boring, thankless work.

yeah.... the only problemk with doing nothing at work is that you could be spending that time doing nothing at home...... people think it's easy getting paid for doing nothing when it's just so much harder....
The recession would probably affect middle management roles first. There's only so many "workers" you can lay off before you won't have anyone to do any work. Top level management aren't going to get rid of themselves, so it's the people in the middle that generally suffer.
So a lot would also depend on your industry. If you're just looking for a casual job at a supermarket or similar, I'd be a little surprised if there's a lot less now than before, as supermarkets are largely unaffected by these recessions (everyone needs food). If it's a restaurant or electronics store, things might be different.
yeah.... i think i just need to have some patience to be honest..... both my jobs have been small family run businesses....(lost one because my post went full time, the other i lost due to closure of the firm) an maybe I'll get more luck in a supermarket or other large chain.... i definately need to give up on drinking also.... every time i go on anight out it's a lot of money out of my pocket....
not really a need to buy (except maybe for a new PC)
but more of a "want" . lol

Are you sure the first one was because of the post going full time or because you set fire to the laminator?
The problem at the moment seems to be that all the people who lost their middle management jobs at the beginning of the recession are applying for the low-tier jobs at the supermarkets out of desperation leaving no jobs for all us littl'uns. It's not that there are fewer low tier jobs it's just that there are more people applying for them.
Anyway, a quick heads up for you our good friend andrewcc, there's a new Lidl opening soon in Ammanford. Get an application in as soon as possible. Also Tesco will be extending pretty soon so some jobs will become available there. The world's economy seems to be recovering slowly now so all the middle-management people will hopefully get back to where they belong giving all us littl'uns our job space back.
That's just my take on things.
