Sooo due to an unforeseen event I have ~280€ for myself left after buying all christmas presents and paying all money back I lent.

I questioned myself if I should get a Netbook... but I'm actually not sure how useful it would be for me...

I mean I have a Laptop yes but it's more a portable gaming PC for me for when I get over to friends etc. but it's actually too heavy and large to carried it around all the time, e.g. school.

For one, the netbook would replace my PSP for nightly Anime watching.

Second, I think after I pass my A-Levels next spring I will go studying and you pretty much need some form of PC then. Like said my laptop is too heavy/large for that so a ~1kg Netbook would be very nice...

I thought of picking one of these EEE PCs up and throwing (Snow)Leopard OSX on it since I can't game on a netbook I don't need Windows

I'm just not sure.... I have the bad habit of buying stuff impulsively with larger amounts of money when I don't have any real reason to spent it nor do I really need it...

The only other thing I thought of buying from the money were Wipeout HD Fury and maybe some 5.1 sound system for my PC...

My PC doesn't needs an update, it plays everything I throw at it at max settings so I can't really thing of anything else to do with it and FF13 (vs) is still months away so I will just buy it from my monthly allowance.

What do you guys think?
If it'll help studying, then get it.

Keep in mind, Sensei will definitely be getting Wipeout HD Fury over Christmas ^^

But running Mac on a Netbook sounds awful O_o

25€ are not that much, I'm sure I will be able to get it together with a Netbook

The thing is... I don't know if I 100% go studying...

Get married, that will eiliminate that problem :P

Also read up and see if they fixed the atom cpu support in snow leopard.  Last time i saw a few weeks ago apple removed it, so i don't know if it's been hacked in to allow atom cpus in 10.6.2 (latest version of snow leopard)
In the past I've thought about getting one but in the long run there more of a gimmick than something I'd actually find useful. The keyboards generally are too small to do any kind of serious typing which rules it out for studying. Hard drive capacities and screen sizes tend to be small making them a bit poitless for media.

Really the only use I could find for one is portable web browsing, which I already use my PSP for.

Of course there are netbooks available that address these problems like the Acer Aspire One D250, but they cost a fair bit more than $280...
I can't write with 10 fingers anyway and I'm used to write on damn small keyboards from my iPhone with iKexEX 5 row keyboard xD
About the screen size, I think OSX Spaces would solve that a bit and I don't mind watching Animes on a small screen, I'm watching them on my PSP anyway atm :P
Well im using a dell latitude d630 as my hackintosh..has a core2duo 2.55ghz, 4gb ram, 320gb harddrive and 128mb nvidia quadro video card...it opens photoshop before my 3.0ghz pc even shows the photoshop splash screen.  it scored a 147 on xbench which DESTROYS even the mac book pro 17" and you can find them for cheap because they are a tad old!  Just don't get the intel video card model.

Downsides...
Battery lasts 2 hours (not bad considering the utter speed :P ), and for some reason right now I can only use wifi, onboard nic doesn't want to work for me in snow leopard :(

*edit* i guess its not THAT cheap... $480 USdollars on ebay :-/
i hate netbooks

they're tiny, underpowered and irritating imo

I'd say go play with one at the store and see if you like it. Of course it wouldn't be for anything serious but it could be useful, seeing as how your laptop isn't very portable.
