im thinking about buying the powermat.

and posibaly, taking apart the wireless receiver to hardmod it to my psp, so i don't have to plug in the cube thing, or anything, just drop the psp and let it go.

like solder the wires to the right place on my psp and fit the receiver's insides into my psp.

any comments?
it sounds like a good idea if implemented correctly, if not it could look like a horrible mess
i don't get what ur trying to do. what's a powermat? and why do you want to hardmod your psp with a wireless reciever?
yeah. like im looking at the power mat and the charger for the psp is like a hockypuck. its bulky. it makes me think, how would it fit in my psp?. cause naturally, it don't clip to the psp like the iphone receiver dous.

that
oh
Like all DIY hardmods, do it right and it looks awesome, you win forever, etc.
Get it wrong, and your hardware looks like a horrible mess, and you may need to buy a new one.

A friend of mine had a 360, and thought he could make it a "laptop 360" like he'd seen on the internets. So he jumped outside, pulled his 360 to pieces, and basically fudgeed the whole plan up.
In the end, it still worked and he had it in a brief-case, it sort of turned out alright; but there were so many flaws...
Plan, make sure you got all your things together, and that you know how to do whatever it is you are going to have to do, and do it.

i agree... thing is though, not sure how much hardware is in that powercube untill i get it. so i don't know about plans so far, as it may not fit into a psp.

will have to wait.
power mat is totally lame...until they incorporate the puck into a device, its pointless..you still have to plug in the device you want to charge into something...yeah you only get one power cord off the wall, but i made my own power mat for my computer.

Take a shoe box from a pair of boots, cut a wedge out of it.
Insert a 10 plug power strip and take the wire out the whole and plug it into the wall.
Plug in monitors, computer, printer, speakers, psp, phone, etc, take all wires out the side and plug them into respective devices.  meh...getto as hell, but now i have one large box holding all the wires and spoon...so its good for me and the cats and dogs and sugar glider can't get into it :)
the only way you would be able to get this to work is with some disassembly, and removal.

first off, i know that this is definitely only feasible with a Phat (1000) PSP.

I also know that the biggest space in a PSP is it's UMD drive. this would have to go.

leaving you with a space that is 7cm wide, 7cm tall and abut 1.5cm thick.

assuming you want to have this completely internal... you would buy your mat, and one of these.

remove the casing, strip the main insulation off of the PowerCube miniUSB cable and find the + and - points of the port with a multimeter (if there are more than one choose the PSP's correct charging voltage (5V)). then extend the wires if required to the two terminals of the power plug on the motherboard. solder on. bam. there you have it, a fully internal PowerMat-enabled PSP, that is of course assuming it can charge through the plastic of the UMD door. :P

its been ages since a good mod came out
