@Mickey: web-based proxies like hidemyass.com?
That's not that useful. Most HTTP proxies allow HTTPS traffic (any URL starting with https:// ) - if it does, you can tunnel over it. If the HTTP proxy doesn't allow it, then every site which uses SSL will fail, including Hotmail, Gmail, pretty much any site involving money transfers etc.
My school doesn't have firewalls like that. Then again, it doesn't have Wi-Fi Internet, either. But in my high school, I tried using webproxies a few times, but it just didn't feel right.
So, basically, all I can say is webproxies, if your school's that airtight.
https has its own proxy "proxy.tuhsd.k12.az.us:80" without it it doesn't work
and proxy sites are blocked here

have no internet at home right now so no ssh tunneling from home. . .though i might be able to do it from my cousin's computer, but i couldnt get ssh tunneling working before with the EP proxy :/

just a thought here. did you try booting the school computer on an os from your flashdrive? some of them feature networking, and if your using a school machine, the filter software may be just installed to the computer, so by booting your own os, you won't have the software there to cause you trouble

that would make sense unless all traffic is proxied through school filters.
Portable Firefox usually gets around filtering stored locally. But most is done on a proxy - it's much easier for the admins to maintain.

Probably not as Websense does its job at the central network. I have it at my school as well.
Mickey - Try installing CopSSH or FreeSSHd if you have Windows based machines.
Yeah ssh tunneling failed
