^ I have a Wii, that makes me a child?

Plus, I know DAX has other things to do on his life, but, hell, millions of people are depending on  him for their gaming needs.
I think it's about time the users take the firmware into their own hands; DAX should release his custom firmware making skills to the public and then wee can make our own custom firmware. After that no one can complain about spoon, if they want custom firmware they can damn well make their own.

Don't think it's that easy - I doubt there's any simple way to do it other than studying everything.

Interesting thread with all these posts, lol.
if DAX is going to quit, I think he should releases his sources, to make it easier for others to take it up.

Hell, if the source code was released, even I would look into it, even though I would never in my life be able to figure out how to release my own custom firmware. I'd still be curious enough to actually study it and try to learn how to d something with it.
lulz.

I looked through the popstation source, and it confused the spoon out of me.

Yeah but how long did you look through it? Five minutes?
I'm saying I'd be willing enough to spend months just learning what needs to be learned and understand.
It's a bit more than just source code.  There's other stuff you need to know, such as the various hooks/memory patches in place.  To figure those out, you actually have to disassemble the firmware.
Looking through the source code isn't going to teach you how to disassemble the firmware (though it may help to a degree).

Exactly. Which is why I said it may take months (probably more) just to learn the basics.
