...that test can not be trusted...
what probably happened is they took up the concept of comcast's "speedboost" where the first 50mb of download is VERY fast, then it trickles down to your actual speed.
Why do i say that? i have an 8mb/s comcast line...i just tested there and it says my speed is 18mb...Speedboost by me is supposed to be around 16-20mb/s for the first 50mb.
I know from watching my news reader speed report that my actual speed is only 8mb after the speed boost, thus rendering this test only good for exhagerating e-pen0r size, not for actual speed testing.
For a real test download this file and watch the speed slow down after the first 20-50mb dpeending on how the isp is setup...if it stays the same the whole time, then WOOWOOO you DID get a free upgrade!!

i (read: my dad) pay for 8mb/s get around 150kb/s on average download. I'm meant to get 512k upload but get 128k usually. hopefully when this contract expires my dad will get a decent package (currently on Toucan, a subsidary of Tiscali who're notorious for throttling bandwidth for 'heavy users'). O2 are meant to be OK even if they have a 'Fair usage policy' like Tiscali but at least its a lot more lax. He's thinking of getting a wifi router too, which means he's beginning to trust me with the internet. he knows that if wee do get install a wifi network then i will get in (mainly because he keeps a text document on his desktop containing all of his passwords, and hasn't bothered to protect his documents folder. not that that's much protection...)
