Well... when I'm allowed out of the house, I'll drop by the Apple store and try playing around on it... lets see...

Well here in Canada our electronic stores (like futureshop or bestbuy) allow you to buy and return in 30 days. Of course, the return is untaxed and you get all your money paid back; so if you can do something along the lines as this, i'd recommend doing it for a test drive for a new mac.

P.S. You're welcome! I'm always happy to help with my opinion :P

It depends on your processor. If you have AMD, good luck.

Your best bet in finding something is there.

RE: Macbook users...
Mac OSX is basically BSD with Apple's interface.
If you like the underlying OS, try a variant of BSD (ie FreeBSD (v8 got released a few days ago)) - it'll have your typical Gnome/KDE etc shell instead of Apple's however.  But these distros won't require such hacky techniques to get working, plus they're fully open source.
On the other hand, it won't support binary OSX applications (dunno if they can be made to work though; I suspect it'd need some libraries like Wine or something).

Personally see little reason to use OSX unless you have a Mac and like the interface.  Windows has more compatibility, and BSD has more flexibility with the same underlying system.

RE: Macbook users...
I can't comment much on the usability, I could handle it very well, just like Windows. However if I where you I would just get a normal lappy and check back if it's compatible with OSX86, that way you save loads of money^^

RE: Macbook users...
@ ZB... I did install FreeBSD in VM.. don't have much recollection, however. And no, didn't try to use mac apps. Let me see...

However, the intent to get a new OS machine doesn't rely only on new OS... That is just acting like a boost.

@ Sky
If I get a get a PC notebook, then I'd have no reason to try out OSX there..

Precisely.

I'm not sure why you are fussing over the idea of a Mac (I read the whole thread, by the way) when you already know how to use Windows.

If you're looking to be productive, stick to what you know best and don't put yourself into a labyrinth of the unknown for no good reason.

Having the knowledge to use Windows already and the Apps you need to use, why indulge yourself into learning something you really don't need to learn?

Based off your first posts, I think its a matter of personal discipline that you avoid from Gaming, and I think considering paying a stupid premium for a Mac is just silly.

Like Sky said, you are much better off dualbooting if you want to experiment with Mac, because theres no real reason why you should quit Windows entirely - it would just be illogical.
