Spoiler for Story of My life:
Quote:I'm 20 and I was a computer/electrical engineer major. I was into my third year and I had a year and a half to go.

Then 1 day as I am doing my programming homework and figuring out what the hell was wrong with my code,

I thought to myself 'spoon, i don't want to do this for the rest of my life.'

So I changed majors and now I am a proud music (vocal) education major. The point is do what you want to do in life. Cause its your life don't let anyone hold you back.

For me its been a chance based system. Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it shorts out leading me to break the entire case apart in blood rage.

RE: Shocking computer causes freeze?
For a second I thought you meant shock like static electricity and I was like :o

I have not come across a problem like that in recent years. Hard drives are, as you said, the most likely to be affected, unless they are SSD. But why would kicking it cause a lock up? I can't see what it could be...

Does your computer have any loose components at all?

Not really.  But even if something came loose, simply pressing the reset button shouldn't be the solution >_<
