I have never used PeerGuardian in my lifetime.

I only sit there with an antivirus these days (Sophos, cause uni gives me free license), nothing else, with on-access scan disabled too because it lags the whole system down. And I pretty much never get virus'. (Used to have a firewall too, but now that I'm on 64bit, Zone Alarm dosn't support it).

The best possible defense is being aware and surf smart. If you see "war3.exe" that's 20kb in size, it's pretty obvious...

I mean if you keep windows updated (so virus' can't come in automatically through windows weaknesses), don't download shifty files, don't click shifty ads, don't go to shifty sites, don't open shifty attachments from random people you don't know, you shouldn't really get any virus'. If you really need to download the shifty files (like craks, keygens...), make sure you virus scan them.
