Really depends what mood/genre you fancy.

I wasn't a big fan of the second season and I watched the first 6 episodes (I don't know why I did that) of the endless 8. the other arc was the one leading up the part where they made that movie but that arc made me hate Haruhi so yeah..

"Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" is one of the best episodes from the Haruhi anime adaptation, though, and that's the first-aired episode of Season Two. Endless Eight is poor but forgivable. The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya isn't fantastic but there are laughs and if I remember correctly there are a couple more good episodes there. You should put yourself through it (not all 8 eps of EE obviously) before watching the film - which is outstanding.
