I'm still not sure why you're so absolutely stuck in the mindset that you must avoid smaller companies.  It seems to remind me of people who will always claim a faster CPU is better than a slower one, where in reality, it's more of a price/performance tradeoff. (or maybe that designer A's clothes are better than designer B's cause celebrity X is promoting A)  Similarly, buying most products involve a tradeoff - typically smaller companies' products will be priced cheaper to compensate for the increased amount of risk you take on (assuming the same feature set etc).  There are also various regulations which prevent consumer grade products being absolute poo poo, and you have reviews, warranties etc to back things up.
Personally, I don't really look at brand...

I don't care what people use myself, but try not to get pulled into marketing hype and make good informed decisions :)

Well exactly, but I've just had bad experiences with smaller companies and the whole warranty, reviews, and such did not help me; for example, i bought an archos 7 and had to return it because the thing was burning off it's left side; it was amazing with it's 800x600 screen and cortex processor, but the thing had the worst software running on it known to man.

I know i should put function over fame; but at times it's hard to go with a product that has a lot of promise but can't fulfill it because it just wasn't supported well. You see, the ipad is backed by a HUGE jailbreaking/app store community, it's also the reason why people bought the psp, it's because so many people were behind it and since I'm not versed in anyways of customizing my own devices, i need to run with the crowd to get something done right.

It's not like i adore apple, but i do trust them not to make something that blows up in my face; that's why i can trust them with the new tablet sector, it's just that third party companies will just do it wrong one way or another. I guess, i would trust something made by asus or hp, but come on; webOS? I've never used it, but i can't say it'll be SO much better than the iphone OS.

Is it the best choice for a tablet out there? No, it's not; but it's a choice that i know i won't regret later on, I'm not much of a gambler.

P.S. if someone finds a windows-powered tablet, please share, i'd look into it ;)
