If GEN were nice enough to release sources then perhaps the chance of getting it to work with 5.00M33 would exist. Nah, they want users.
Problem is, releasing sources means Sony might be able to patch it. Unfortunately, it makes an open-source community on the PSP rather hard.
Well, the game decryptor doesn't have GEN restrictions (with most games), so it's not that bad. GEN had to change quite a bit in flash0 GEN-C. The odds of getting it to work on 5.00M33 would be harder (a LOT of flash0 changes to the point it'd piratically be a GEN firmware). And of course, if you spend a lot of time making a custom firmware, why wouldn't you want users? It's just natural.
