RE: [Updated!] EP Computer Benchmarking PowerBoard
^ Really good scores for a dual core...
Assassinator Wrote:Did you run the .vbs or the .bat? the .vbs supposedly has code to disable UAC...
.bat
readme file doesn't specify what to run. They really should've put the .bat in a subfolder or something to make it really obvious as what should be run.
Now that I think about it, "Run Benchmark.vbs" is probably more likely than "bench_script.bat", but oh well...

Maybe you overclocked a bit too much? Because x264 is pretty CPU intensive, I used to use it to test overclock stability in the past.
Joe88 Wrote:not bad though, my OC'd c2d can almost keep up with the quad core
c2q and i7's
Only the 1st pass, the core i7 double'd you on the second pass. But yeah, that's good for a dual.
Competitive on the 1st pass because....
Assassinator Wrote:Generally the 2nd pass results (the slower 4 numbers) are a better indication of the true power of the CPU, as the 1st pass (analysis pass) is somewhat bottlenecked by the non-multithreadable components and never really reaches 100%CPU usage for quads and higher.

Seems weird. My computer's like encoding stuff 1/3 of the times it's on, and I hardly ever remember crashes.
Maybe try getting a newer version of x264 incase they use some really old buggy version (but then again, you can't really benchmark with that, as the new version will probably be faster).

EDIT: you can actually decode the video through AviSynth right? Open the "test-720p.avs" in your media player (Media Player Classic or something, WMP probably won't work), and see if that works.

Yeah, probably old x264 being s hitty then.
ProperBritish Wrote:someone needs to add an x264 benchmark table to the OP
Maybe average the 4 first pass results, the 4 second pass results, and display the resulting 2 numbers in the table?
