RE: Intel or AMD?
Like a lot of entusiasts, I have been one of the people who have swapped back and forth many times - simply because AmD and Intel have leapfrogged each other so many times as far as value and gaming power is concerned. My first personal computer (that is, one that wasn't my dad's) was a P3 Coppermine which beat the pants off any Athlon's at the time. Then the Athlon XP came out, as the P4 of similar generation was complete poo poo.
Now though, I'm still on my trusty ol' Prescott P4 - overclocked from 2.8 to 3.4GHz; with DDR400 RAM clocked to 440 or 450 or something (i change it a lot because Linux poo's itself with my RAM too high). Honestly though, i would have to say that i would be very surprised if AMD makes a full recovery after what Intel have done latey.
AMD's buy-out of ATi was one of the biggest mistakes I've seen in the modern IT corporate world. I knew ATi always had financial troubles (as nVidia always blew them outta the water) and that's no surprise - nVidia bought out 3DFX for christ's sake! They pretty much INVENTED 3D acceleration! But anyway, my point is that i think the AMD Fusion project is a huge gamble. Nobody knows how successful it'll be.
Feel free to flame at me, i serously don't mind being contradicted/criticised. But I'm sticking with Intel no matter what now, AMD has made too many mistakes and they will always be the underdog just like ATi (in my opinion). I also do a lot of music and video production as well as gaming now so Intel For the win!

RE: Intel or AMD?
Rather then tell us the advantages of what AMDs have over Intels, why don't you just give us reasons why wee should even consider buying the rubbish known as Intel.

RE: Intel or AMD?
Hmm how about because AMD have been struggling to keep up with Intel's market dominance for a long time and with obvious reason? Lol, seriously though. I'm not saying that anything is wrong with AMD, it's just my opinion that AMD has always been the underdog. And yeah, i know what you are thinking - "This is another l33tist that hasn't even done his un-biased research", and yeah you may be right. But the fact is that it is extremely difficult to NOT be biased with PC hardware. Who can say that they HONESTLY don't trust AMD or Intel more than the other one, and they trust them exactly the same? Not very many. And those who say they do are probably lying.
My point is that I've had bad experiences with AMD in the past - the fact that i cooked an Athlon XP when overclocking, and the huge XP Vs. AMD based AGP motherboards dilema; whereas there has never been an Intel problem of that magnitude. AMD has been much better FOR GAMING compared to Intel in the past, but i seriously doubt AMD's capability to make a comeback. Fusion Project looks doubtfull. And the fact that i do a lot of Music/Video production - raw MHz/GHz has always been important in that, which is something AMD has never beaten Intel at.
I could go into the research I have done as to why i think Intel is better than AMD, but there is no point. I was only expressing why I PERSONALLY think that Intel is the winner out of the CPU Battle. I am truley sorry if i offended any AMD enthusiasts on Endless Paradigm. Apologies.
P.S. My reference to "i would be surprised if AMD ever recover" is in regards to the price-drop in Intel CPU's lately, and the resignation of a key-member of the AMD/ATi corporation because "he wasn't happy with the outlook of the corporations' future" or something. That is all. Sorry once again to those i offended, it is only a personal opinion. If you think I am wrong, just accept that and ignore me. Peace.

RE: Intel or AMD?
Lol, enthusiasts.
I don't take a side on companies - I don't believe in being a "fanboy" of one. I believe in trying to get best value for money :P
When I bought my computer, AMD had the upper hand, so I bought an AMD CPU. Currently though, Intel has the upper hand, so if I were to buy a new CPU now, it would be Intel.
