Getting an LCD monitor. Help?
So I run a lot of my life from my laptop at my desk. However, the size of the screen is causing me eyestrain problems that don't help my already-annoying eye problems. I'm also getting some back and neck pain from the angle and height of the screen itself.

Due to all this, I decided I should get a monitor, and use a keyboard and mouse I already have, and basically turn my laptop into a portable desktop. I'm already planning on getting this monitor stand that's made to slide a Mac laptop underneath it. With this, and the monitor/keyboard/mouse, i can basically use my laptop like a desktop, then just unplug it and go when I need to take it with me.

What I need help with is picking a good monitor. I've looked on Newegg, and the choices there are just so vast and widely ranged it makes my head spin. Does anyone have any good suggestions to narrow the pool of choices down? It needs to be around 22", widescreen, non-glossy, and around $230 at most. Obviously, seeing as I'm getting it to reduce eyestrain problems, it doesn't have to be high resolution, like 1920x1200, 1680x1050 would be fine.

E-pigs shall be rewarded for the help. Thanks :)

RE: Getting an LCD monitor. Help?
I am extremely impressed by the LG line of LCD for price and performance!  Infact work has started buying LG over Samsung for show rentals due to the great picture quality, super fast refresh rate, high brightness and long life on the road!  (Wee have retired 4 samsung monitors after only 14 months of use on the road which is why the looked at other brands and LG took the cake)

I have a 22" LG that does 1680x1050 and when i hook up the ps3 using hdmi» dvi the monitor says it is diong 1920x1080 and it looks DAMN good!  I also have the brightness set down to about 65% because at 100% it is extremely bright in the daylight and almost blinding in complete darkness!!

THis is the new version of what I have http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=2775

But i am soon (well maybe not TOO soon..but hopefully by the end of the year) be moving ot this for my computer monitor and ps3 monitor :D  MUAAHAHAAHAA  http://www.lge.com/us/tv-audio-video/tel...32LG70.jsp and the 46lg70 for the family room for tv watching and the mrs to play xbox360 on :)  After she saw how chocolatety the sylvania 46" plasma that wee are babysitting looked when i put the ps3 on it compared to how it looked on my lcd monitor, she stopped playing fallout3 because the picture is so dark and washed out its hard to see :(

@ Schmilk, it's a wee bit out of my price range, but it looks good. I might just have to set aside a bit more money for it :P

From reviews, people seem to like Dell, though I do like my own LG better than the Dell's I've seen at work.  The main thing is that the Dell's seem to be rather blurry on non-native resolutions, whereas the LG seems to scale better.

I'm currently on a 20inch V7. Yeah, you probably never heard the brand before, but it seems to work fine, got it a long time ago. Pretty sharp, and has a faster startup time than my brother's LG.

My monitor's only good on native resolution though. Use something else, and it looks weird (weird referring to bad in this case. A combination of blur and line duplication).

Yeah, LG does seem to take a while to start.  My 19in's native resolution is 1280x1024 but I always use it at 1024x768 and things look quite good.  This can be helpful if you run games on lower resolutions.
