RE: V1's Badaboom Review/Contest
BADABOOM most likely not 20x faster then x264 but BADABOOM is def not slower,.. ;p
I only use BADABOOM for my PSP transcoding's as of now,. its fast and quality is superA!! also with eg xvid4psp i was't able to make video wich could be set to "normal, full screen and zoom" on my psp,.

If a batch mode is added that would be great! Madwin
Also would be nice to have some pop-ups to explain some settings in advanced mode.

have't run any test yet BADABOOM VS Xvid4PSP but i guess its would be useless,.. cause they prob score almost the same.

Make loads of $$!! it wurks!!

RE: V1's Badaboom Review/Contest
Measuring quality is silly.  Most things, just stick the bitrate up high, and the quality will be good.  The thing to compare for is efficiency, ie quality/size ratio.
Not slower?  I wouldn't make that statement so soon - not everyone has a GTX295 graphics card.

<Dark_Shikari> ugh, you saw the guy in the big buck bunny thread?
<Dark_Shikari> he justified his bitrate of 15 megabits (WAY above transparency) by saying he wanted "the true hi-def experience"
<Dark_Shikari> the marketing seems to be working
<pengvado> you're just missing the definition of "the true hi-def experience". it really means "requiring a bigger hdd"

Lol.  Of course, it also depends on the content...  Video game footage seems to be one of the hardest things to compress.  Visualisation dumps (ie the visualiser that shows when playing music) is perhaps the worst thing to try to compress.

Not slower?  I wouldn't make that statement so soon - not everyone has a GTX295 graphics card.

Was't the 295gtx a dual gpu sli 200 card,. and is't badaboom not using sli and only 1 gpu for trancoding,.!>? i guess the new "cheap!!" geforce 250 might even trancode faster then my gtx295,...

For a video noob like me,. i get "good quality/fast/easy" video for my PSP,. ;p

To make a nice compare between GPU & CPU transcoding/encoding,.
  • prices
  • encode settings >> source file & output file,..
  • ?????

Why would a program compress visualiser?

295GTX is two 260GTX stuck together in internal SLI. So yeah, if you buy a 260GTX, you would get the same speed.

    RE: V1's Badaboom Review/Contest
I did s small conversion test:
but badaboom is aout the race because it srewed the conversion by repeating the first frame through the whole movie,. maybe because this was a .mkv file,. .>!? but still badaboom is 2 minutes faster.
I do some more test,. just for phun later!

Try the Turbo profile instead of the Ultra one in XviD4PSP.

    RE: V1's Badaboom Review/Contest
Thoughts from someone with slightly more average components

Its certainly faster than Xvid4PSP, although the quality options are far from expansive

Considering i paid £90 for my GPU already, i consider it unfair to have to pay for the application, (although for its speed, and a certainly acceptable quality, i intend to come Thursday)

My other complaint is that although i have realalternative installed, it won't recognise RMVB files. Xvid4PSP seems to be picky with them, and sometimes fails, but it does work
