"In My Craft Or Sullen Art"
Not for the proud man apart
From the raging moon I write
On these spindrift pages
Nor for the towering dead
With their nightingales and psalms
But for the lovers, their arms
Round the griefs of the ages
Who pay no praise or wages
Nor heed my craft or art.
"and death shall have no dominaion"
And death shall have no dominion
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone
They shall have stars at elbow and foot
Though they go mad they shall be sane
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again
Though lovers be lost love shall not
And death shall have no dominion.
But does anyone have any actual suggestions for when writing poetry?
write about death, always seems to work
I prefer happier topics... Even when I feel sad I write about suffering or sadness, but not about death.
try writing haiku's. they're easy to write and can be about any topic in the world.
console rivalry
winnings a challenge
especially in this world
sony must hang on

Well... it all depends on the style.....
if you want to rhyme, then my suggestion is to gather a collection of words that describe how you are feeling, and put them into pairs.
example..... tired/expired - Postpone/brimstone - revamped/decamped - touch/crutch..... you get the idea...
I don't really like Haiku's (not the style I'm shooting for).
Hurtween, thanks, I'll try that later today when I start up on a new one.
i just randomly wrote this poem
the world today
as i sit on my bed,
wondering what will happen next,
an idea comes into my head,
and i think at my best.
the subject at hand,
is the world today,
what state is it in,
is it bound to the chains,
of life my dear friend?
or is it a dream,
how our lives are controlled,
or so it may seem.
democracy, dictatorship,
in the end they're the same.
but whose fault is all of this
are wee really to blame?
for the world is in turmoil,
crying for aid.
the government cares not about the earth's soil,
but for when they get paid?
i feel like i am ruined,
but my life has just begun.
there has to be an end to this,
but not the bullet of a gun.
my dear friend,
listen clear.
if this is the end,
then lend me your ear.
if you're tired of facing,
the same story each day.
i just hope you are listening,
this advice it will pay.
when you are faced,
with a sad situation.
remember these lines,
and forget the anticipation.
Kinda emo, lol. It's nice though.
a poetry has to come from the heart... if you want to use it to express your feelings for a special someone, its best to just write it yourself.. whatever you feel. at least that's what I did. It turned out well too... but if that special someone realises that you made it up yourself, regardless of the quality, if they have feelings for you, they'll love it!
