Nah, I'm fine with using a firmware not made by DAX, infact it was like that before until I discovered M33 was DAX.

There's like 5 games that you HAVE to have 5.50GEN for, though.
Naruto, Persona, Disgaea 2, and a few others I forget.
Other than that, the other games should theoretically work on just about any custom firmware.

Disgaea 2 is the main one I want to play anyway.
I just suggested the 4.01m33 because I know that a lot of people still don't want to change over to 5.50GEN-B Full. I've just changed over and can't find any differences as of yet.

Keeping in mind that there is the possibility of corrupt savegames when a 6.xx custom firmware IS released...i wouldn't suggest staying that far in the past.
People who have problems with GEN typically are the ones who are still using old versions of homebrew, have unknowingly corrupted memory sticks, and are just trying to seem cool by 'being loyal' to m33.

I kinda noticed, in particular, that last reason you stated.
theres a single reason for me - and im guessing a few others - to not upgrade to gen firmware and that is 1.5 compatablity. i still use many homebrews that only run in 1.5 kernal mode so...tough choice - stay with 5.00 and have 1.5 homebrew or upgrade for new games and sacrifice 1.5 homebrew.
