wifi should be pronounced "wiffy"

I always pronounced it like why-fhy.
And I've never personally heard anyone say wiffy...
i usually pronounce it [weeee feeee] until someone corrected me to "why pie" (my officemate fronounce F to P)

adverts and everything say Why-Fye for Wi-Fi, therefore it must be correct. Also Wi and Fi are abbreviations for Wireless Fidelity meaning its just 2 abbreviations glued together meaning grammatical rules don't apply to each part of the section (as if it were one 'word'). Meaning you pronounce each bit as a seperate word.
Or this could be an elaborate trick, as technically 'Wifi' should be pronounced 'wiffy', but it is not the correct notation of it. Wi-Fi is.
