then you'll end up with a brick.
what if I dump 3.40... and replace every SINGLE folder and file manually being carefully as hell?  on flash0 and flash1... kinda risky I think...

Any ideas on the missin icons?
laser is dead, laser is worn out. is your PSP used when you got it?
No, it was completely new. its about 4 months old.

It can't be hardware related,

1. isos won't play no matter what I do. (somethings wrong)
2. UMD won't even show up.
3. Im missing icons (somehing is even messing those icons up) somewhere.
4. The chances of running Idstorage manager and after rebooting psp getting that error. Is way to logic.

That tells me theres something WRONG somwhere.
turn off your psp...

open your umd door... use your smallest finger... the lens is always position on the inner tracks... push it farther to the outer tracks... push that the lens is on the other side and can't move further...

close your umd... then turn on your psp... when the xmb is booted... wait for 10 seconds... then insert any UMD games...

if this solve your problem... then you drop your PSP just a little higher... like 6 inches on the floor... okay... and you heard noises when trying to play UMD games... as if the lens is trying to focus the tracks on the UMD... okay...

3.40 remove the CERTIFICATE under games icon... okay... so don't blame idstorage or any flash... okay...
Nothing it didn't work. Thanks for the advice joker. I moved the lens to the far right and far left, didnt work.

I know Certificate is gone, but Im still missing the "Update 2.5" icon.. which makes it obvious theres a problem.

Mmmmm I really don't konw what to do now..
Ok first off you are not missing any icons under Game, in 3.40 the only 4 that will show up are Game Sharing, Saved Data Utility, UMD (which won't show if it can't read one), and Memory Stick.  Also don't keep saying it can't be hardware related, it doesn't matter how old hardware is or how little it has been used, it can fail at any time for any number of reasons.  And ISO's may not run for a number of different reasons, mostly relating to your settings in the recovery menu, so that may or may not be related to your UMD problem.

It does sound like it is probably something to do with your IDStorage though, so have you tried Chilly Willy's Keycleaner?  I haven't used it but I believe it will at least show you the status of all of your IDStorage keys, and possibly give you the option to fix them.
Man, Im missing Update 2.5 icon the one above "Memory Stick" which I had before.. That icon has always been there since some firmwares before.

Im missing the icons even on 1.5 :S:S:S:S

But yeah, my ids are ok.. I fixed them as I said ealier. how gay...... I'm like.. :S clueless.

thanks !
the laser was one reason it wasn't playing the UMDS. did you try another game? that one disc may have broken since you got it.

and that update thing does change with different UMDs mine says "PSP update 2.81"
dude could you at least read the entire topic before being so offensive? he says it can also not read iso's, and it happened after he ran a program. also, it is unlikely to be a problem with the hardware
