 Wind-Powered Outdoor Lamp: Streetlight of the Future?
15/04/2007 11:50 PM Posted by: dasme in Tech News
Quote[Image: windlight.jpg]This low-key, wind-powered outdoor light seems like an ideal way to keep streets lit and energy green. The blades hang over about a meter on each side, so they're small enough that they could probably fit into an urban setting without hacking up any birds to boot. And even if it does take down a pigeon or two, I'd consider that a perk.

I could almost see these in Manhattan, where it's generally windy enough that they might generate enough energy to stay lit without too much assistance from the grid, while helping to keep the skies pigeon free. Win-win-win.

An outside lamp drawn from our home surroundings. The gently
sweeping Dutch windmills were actually perfect generators of their
own. With that in mind, wee made this lamp. With every breeze it
stores energy, enough to enjoy every summerevening untill
forever. Contemporary vs traditional, art vs functionality.
Shaped by its function the big prop spans over one meter on each
side. It is a self supporting light source that marks the landscape.

 Hexaxis XXI Update #7
15/04/2007 06:32 PM Posted by: juan2320 in PSP News
Timwillhack has released an update to his puzzle game, Hexaxis XXI. Included are massive additions & optimizations, as well a new control scheme.

It’s recommended you delete any previous version of Hexaxis XXI prior to installing Update #7.

New controls:

    * Down, Left and Right: move dice down left and right at normal speed
    * Up: Move the die down in turbo speed (3x)
    * Hold CROSS (TURBO): if moving the die left right or down it moves in turbo (3x normal speed)
    * Start: Pause game
    * L: Zoom out
    * R: Zoom in
    * L & R: Turn dice preview on or off
    * Select: Exit Game

Update #7 changes:

   1. Added 2 levels (3 complete levels, each with unique music tracks and background image / color scheme)
   2. Added Line Effects for when the dice goes down, light shoots left and right on the line the die is on.
   3. Added very cool level transitions (you have to see it to believe it)
   4. Modified mp3player.c to allow turning volume up and down on an mp3 as well as stream in and out new tracks. Between levels, the mp3 of the last level fades down, and the next level is streamed in as the volume goes back up
   5. Full screen color effects are now running full speed
   6. Game runs 60-100fps with mp3 playing and full screen color blending due to massive optimizations
   7. Added Gravity, when you clear a combo with dice above it, they fall to the bottom smoothly.
   8. Now when the random dice at the bottom appear the dice above it smoothly move up (opposite gravity) then the random die goes from transparent to opaque smoothly.
   9. When the wipe line clears the dice they smoothly go from 100% scale down to 0%
  10. Turbo button - hold CROSS to make the dice move quickly left and right - which means CROSS no longer changes the view
  11. Removed rotating grid with buttons except zoom in and out.
  12. Added AT3 to eboot xmb that matches the pc version title screen (about 20 seconds worth anyway)
  13. Made a much better looking grid transparency. Bottom is still a little hard to see sometimes though.

 3.30 OE-A Released!!
15/04/2007 01:49 PM Posted by: ix_stylez in PSP News
Its been a while now but DarK_AleX finnaly released 3.30oe-a  :yipi:

updates
-no more popsloader =[ but may be fixed on the next update
-Corrected Bug which could make unstable your PSP after having put it in day before.
-protection added to prevent sony updates.

Quote:3.30 Open Edition Revision A

Wee give you, initially, the original version of Lisez-moi.txt and the rough file. In a few minutes files RTU (ready to uses) with the complete tuto will follow.

Instructions of installation:

- Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% towards /PSP/GAME/ if you are into 1.5, or towards
/PSP/GAME150/ if you are in 3.XXOE or 2.71SE. Download the updates 1.50
and 3.30 of Sony (of any area, because they are all the same ones),
and copy them in the repertory oeupdmaker with like name 150.PBP (for the 1.5) and 330.PBP
(for the 3.30)

Launch oeupdmaker on your PSP, it will generate a file DATA.DXAR. It will check at the end
the integrity of the file, you can also check it by you even with these checksums:

CRC32: A0723B56
MD5: DEBFC0488D088C384021231814514DA9
SHA1: 7AB9A6928BD08E26F9BEB18C3A2314AD0C745964

- Copy 330oeflasher and 330oeflasher% towards /PSP/GAME/ if you are in 1.50, or
towards /PSP/GAME150/ if you are in 3.XXOE or 2.71SE. Copy the DATA.DXAR obtained previously,
and stick it in the repertory 330oeflasher.

By safety your battery must be charged with more than 75%, you can nevertheless
to pass this control while supporting on L+Triangle during the loading of the program.

Changes since the 3.10OE:

- Update of the firmware of 3.10 towards 3.30
- Corrected Bug which could make unstable your PSP after having put it in day before.
- Protection added in order to prevent the firmware from launching a module of update

Note concerning POPSLoader: It does not function on the 3.30 OE, because Sony has
once again changed the list of module of pspbtcnf_pops.
(Thank you in Sony to have once again destroyed my compatibility with the old versions)
I would make a new version to support all the versions of POPS (emulator PSX in the 3.XX) for 3.30 OE, 3.10 OE and perhaps 3.03OE-C

+ side
   works
   volume bar works
   battery & loading icons work
   custom waves work
   custom MAC address work
   can play psx games
   custom xmb sounds
   custom topmenu now works

 [guide] custom 3.10 OE-A topmenu
15/04/2007 07:25 AM Posted by: pyroesp in PSP Customisation Tutorials / Guides
First thing you need to have is the latest RCO Edit (v1.13) -» RCO Edit

Second thing you need is this topmenu_plugin.rco (v4 in Zinga Burga site)

Then you need to have a customized topmenu that you like or some psp icons

If you have psp icons just replace the old psp icons by the new ones.

If you already have a topmenu_plugin.rco and you want to do it work for 3.10 OE-A, you need to extract all the topmenu somewhere in your PC.

Then with RCO Edit you gona replace all the icons from the customized topmenu to Zing Burga's topmenu.

If you test it now you gona see the shadows and/or glow images of the old icons.

If you want to fix this prob you need to use 'blank.data' in topmenu_plugin_v4.rar

-All the files names that begins with 'tex_sdwn'
-All the files names that begins with 'tex_sdwf'
-All the files names that begins with 'tex_sdw'
-All the files names that begins with 'tex_sdw_cnf'
-All the files names that begins with 'tex_cnf'
-All the files names that begins with 'tex_fcs'
-All the files names that begins with 'tex_fcs_cnf'

All those files (in RCO Edit) are the glow or/and shadow images. You only need to replace them by the blank.dat and the prob is fixed.

There's 1 prob that I don't know how to fix. When you put a 01-12.bmp file in the vsh/ressource folder some icons are a white square. If someone knows how to fix this prob, just write it down there and I ad it to the tuto (with your name of cours :P) «---this is due to high res pictures try to change the size of the pic might help[/color]

 3.30 OE is expected to come soon
14/04/2007 09:45 PM Posted by: ZiNgA BuRgA in PSP News
mcshortcut Wrote:Dark_Alex has just let us know that Custom Firmware 3.30OE is functional and the date of release is planned for this evening around midnight on PSPgen. Note that Dark_Alex made a success of this exploit without having a PSP (His PSP = BRICKED and replacement was on the way). To see the continuation. As you have just read it, Dark_Alex has just finished firmware 3.30OE without having PSP under the hand. With the distant assistance of Mathieulh, it thus comes to fix the last large bug which disturbed the operation of this 3.30OE that everyone has waited with patience and wisdom for several days. The release should thus arrive this evening about midnight if all is well, because there remains only the automatic installer to make. Indeed, each OE requires a new specifically coded installer. While waiting, wee will put on line, in the current of the day, a video showing the 3.30OE to function then the file once that all will be functional.

 1.50 Custom firmware 1.62 IE A Update2
14/04/2007 11:29 AM Posted by: YoYoBallz in PSP News
QJ.net Wrote:Homebrew developer becus25's custom firmware wouldn't be called IE (as in "increasing edition") if it doesn't get updated regularly, right? Right. So with that said, let us all welcome Custom firmware 1.62 IE A Update2. And wee're telling you now, this is way better than the first update.

According to the coder, the bugs and issues present in the past release had already been isolated, and Update 2 should cause no more bricks. He also notes that in the very unlikely event that you do brick your PlayStation Portable (PSP) unit, all you have to do is use the recovery function. However, just be sure that you have either downgraded or have the official update of Sony in "ms0:/psp/game/ierecovery".

Wee've already posted Custom firmware 1.62 IE A's general functions and recovery functions from our last report so don't forget to read that first. The only thing added (which is very important mind you), is the addition of better security and the flasher.

Before you use this application, be sure to check the Readme file as well as the To Install file that comes with the download. It never hurts to be doubly sure, you know?

Hmm I like how greg put it as well

PSP-HACKS.com Wrote:becus25 is back with a new custom firmware for the PSP. Previously 1.62 IE A Update1 was the cause of a few bricks; however, those issues have been isolated and addressed in Update2. Despite the fact, bricking is always an involved risk when flashing the firmware, you can take another step of precaution by carefully reading the included documentation.

General functions:

    * Hide corrupt icons.
    * Skip Sony (SCE) logo.
    * You can start non-kxploited EBOOTs.
    * You can start modules.
    * Contains two recovery menus. If it does not detect one, it loads the other.
    * You can change the CPU clock speed in VSH/XMB by pressing HOME+SELECT.
    * Software system version displays 1.62 IE A.
    * Recovery and the XMB estan now fused. (?)
    * Added security to the flasher to ensure a non-brick.

Recovery functions:

    * You will be able to recover a semi-bricked PSP.
    * Toggle USB.
    * You can personalize XMB.
    * You can activate/deactivate Autoboots (put the autoboot on \psp\game\boot\eboot.pbp ) from recovery without any kept configuration file.
    * Recovery mode is now structured like a menu.

Kudos becus25 — great work.
