Not sure if it's me, but I did get an odd bug with 3.71 M33-2 replacing opening_plugin.prx with a corrupt one.  Even after restoring the original opening_plugin.prx, the PSP refused the boot up correctly...  Have no idea why that happened (I corrupted a few other PRXs fine), so I wouldn't take it much.  It's just a little more of a hassle to downgrade back to 1.50 then go back up again (unless you use Pandora).

as for corrupting prx's da did mention in the 3.71 m33 m3 update that there was a bug in the m2 update which caused files to become corrupt sometimes when  trasfereing n that it was fixed in the 3.71 m33 m3 update

RE: Advice on upgrading to 3.71m33
Unless you have pandora = spare battery and memory stick, it's just "normal" to worry about bricking. So if you are really hesitant to upgrade to 3.71 M33-3, stick to 3.52 M33-4. The very question actually is: "Do you really need to upgrade?".

Honestly, you run the same risk no matter what firmware you up to, so a Pandora backup is a must regardless.  I don't have one mahself, I have access to three hacked psp's from friends, so I ain't worried.

1) I bricked on 3.71 M33-3
2) I replaced impose_plugin.prx with a STOCK, UNMODIFIED one only DECRYPTED (yes i deleted the DIC folder, i used unencrypted VSHMain and PAF unencrypted working fine)
3) PSP booted, but volume bar and such wouldnt come up.
4) Restoring original backup prx had no effect. Odd
5) Tried to run 3.71 update. "No need to update - already at 3.71" (bit of a mistake)
6) Tried to run the 3.71 update in recovery mode - wouldnt work because it NEEDS to be in the UPDATE folder (was this on purpose, DAX?)
7) Ran the 3.52 update from recovery. Flashed fine. PSP turned off. Perma bricked.
8 to infinity) Waiting for a card reader to build my MagicStick. I already have a hardmodded Pandora battery.

3.71 seems pretty cool i guess. As cool as any firmware update. But my advice is, if you plan to do hacking; as soon as you update to 3.71 M33-4 (just released) DO AN ENTIRE COPY OF YOUR FLASH0 ONTO YOUR PC! Just turn flash0~USB access and copy the whole damn thing. Seriously. Wee learn from our mistakes, learn from mine and don't go through the pain i did :(

I cried when i bricked too. Does that mean im a hardcore PSP fan? Oh.. im a 20 year old straight guy too. Still hardcore? YOU BETCHA.

P.S. You can use the hardmod of pandora battery (like me) apparently, if you only have one PSP and a card reader you can do it all yourself with files from the web. Completely urself. There are many pandora guides, but not ONE with a hardmod AND non-PSP MagicStick maker method!

I might put a guide here on EP when i get it goin again :) Peace

RE: Advice on upgrading to 3.71m33
Hmmm... i don't really know. Given my permanent brick of it from trying to downgrade to 3.52, i don't have any idea whether you can downgrade to 1.50 safely either... of course, it could of been a one off fluke that i bricked, but would you take that chance?

If someone has a pandora working, maybe they could test downgrading to another firmware on 3.71 M33; apart from 3.52 which bricked me? Well, i could test it for you but im not at home/no access to a charger and my battery is only 50% so :S

But I'll give it a go when i can and get back to you, incase you don't find a way yet or if nobody else helps by then. Goodluck and get back to us; otherwise I'll let you know how i go. Peace.
