RE: which anti-virus
avg is meant to be good i had it

no i don't have an anti virus installed

for a virus scanner and killer get Spybot search and destroy

it finds virus's better than any other program and kills them

also its freeware and has customizable skins and is updated almost dayly

Avast! has a small footprint, updates often and it's had the best home detection rate for the past 6 months.

RE: which anti-virus
AVG is a good free alternative. But compared to some of the commercial ones, the detection rate isn't that great. But unless u try very hard to get new virus', or is a complete idiot, any virus scanner should be fine.

In terms of dectection rate, i heard kasersky is supposed to be one of the best.

For spyware, some good free options are ad-aware and spybot - search and destroy.

People like AVG cause it's free. In terms of detection rates, it's not that good. I use AVG anyways.

Meh, i don't even get viruses. Don't be an idiot on what u download and u can filter out almost all the virus' that will end up on your computer, most virus's are pretty obvious, like 100kb warcraft3.exe files u find on P2P, and are very easy to avoid. But my sister on the other hand... like 1 virus a week lately.

Spybot searches for spyware, not viruses.

Spybots detection rate is actually quite bad. I use both spybot and ad-aware for anti-spyware. And it's not that un-often that i manage to pick up something with ad-aware that spybot missed.

Gjee try the symantec Endpoint protection !! works fine for me

I always used norton or symantec and yes these did slow your system down,.

RE: which anti-virus
From what i remember back then, Norton products eat up quite a lot of resources.

U know what, i once tried an anti spyware program called spyware doctor before, and found out that it eats up over 200MB of RAM. Killed it imediately. Lol. Rediculous.
