RE: Plastic Memories Episode 3
It is very interesting to see the characters develop like this. I'd started to consign the episode to the filler bin early on but it gravitated down again later on which was great. It's really beginning to strike a chord with me, this anime. The characters gel with me really well.

As Zinga said, the idea of Isla struggling to put on simple clothes is interesting, and an anecdote that you'd easily overlook. She's struggling because her memories of being able to wear clothes are failing her I believe. And she's so aware of the relationships she creates and her built-in obsolescence, that she shuts herself off from everyone into this Nagato Yuki-esque muted persona.

Really enjoying it, wondering what figures they'll make for it!

RE: Plastic Memories Episode 3
Should have known better than to expect less fan service than usual from this show Sigh

I did enjoy the episode though, it got a few laughs out of me. I'm a little frustrated Tsukasa hasn't figured out what's going on himself.. he's had some clues already.. unless he's doing a wilful ignorance thing because he already feels emotionally attached to her. At what point will he figure it out? How many episodes will they give him to figure out a solution?

Yeah.. and now it's becoming a constant reminder because Isla is -never- really happy.. and perhaps it's making her happy that Tsukasa will feel increasingly obligated to do as he feels closer to her... living with her will certainly help accentuate that.

RE: Plastic Memories Episode 4
Good episode. Glad they're back to actually doing their job! So wee now know about both Black Market Retrievers and the somewhat confusing term Android Children.

Wee now know that Michiru is an android child, having been brought up by a Giftia father (at least?) who 'expired' before he was retrieved and became a wanderer. Michiru seems to be okay at present (no evident burden distressing her) and there was no implication that anything else happened after her foster parent of sorts became a wanderer but that might be something that's brought up again later.

Isla wasn't so much of a focal point this time but the main problem addressed is relevant to her situation - the problem of memories and whether they should have value to androids. Given how advanced Giftia's are, if they are capable of sustaining memories and having emotions they shouldn't hold a different value to their memories than humans do. Sure they are made as products, to fulfil roles, but they are clearly allowed and are encouraged to have relationships with humans and that could only work if feelings are mutual between android and human. Isla could end up regretting being so insular and wasting the little time she has feeling that emotional attachment and making memories are ultimately meaningless things, unfortunately. This 'expiration'... 'what's the point of living if wee die' idea is not new to us humans, though... maybe she needs to be reminded of that and that she has no reason to think she and other Giftia are different in that respect. One must try to live life to the fullest.

Could it be that Kazuki wanted to break off her partnership with Isla because she wanted to create distance so losing her will be less painful? A sad thought but it's a possibility, and it seems Isla might have figured that much out given her flashback.

Now wee can expect Episode 5 to be about Black Market Retrievers - what's in it for them? Spare parts? :/

Edit: Oh yeah, well done Isla... it's a start! xD

Hard to kinda say if he knows or not.  He was told directly that she was declining.
But his attraction + he also wants to show his worth for the job, so I don't think he has much choice other than to be positive.

I find her happiness in the OP jarringly out of character now, haha.

RE: Plastic Memories Episode 5
Drama! Cliffhanger ending! Has something happened to Isla already!? (Obviously not!)

So much for the black market retrievers - their purpose remains puzzling as evidently they can't handle wanderers.

Wee've also learnt that wanders have ridiculous strength because of their "limiters" going offline once they expire... ugh.

The shows lack of story depth is starting to show now.

Episode 4:

This concept of black market retrievers increases my level of disbelief.  I mean, surely you'd have some form of ID to differentiate the legitimate from the illegit.  I suppose child owners may not think about it, but surely they could at least train your bots (androids?) to verify authoritative agents...

Anyway...

The budgetary issues that Terminal Services are having could turn out to be an interesting thing.
(probably greedy corporate administrators looking to fatten their paychecks, despite having a monopoly (probably) on the android market)

Could be symbolic, if you observe that the smiling seems to be short-lived...
